BE A TAKER
Gloria Phifer
I am joining the Five minute Friday group we write on one word for 5 minutes...the word is...Take.
I have been realizing even more in my life that The Lord is this wonderful "Giver." He always gives. John 3 :16 "For God so loved the world that He gave His only Begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him, shall not perish but will have everlasting life."
Now, who would come to this world that was full of sin and put on flesh and become a man when You are God?
That love is so incredible and to the human mind so hard to comprehend.
He paid the price for our sins and all we have to do is...receive...to TAKE what He purchased for us.
Oh The love and glory of God.
God gives His salvation freely to all that will come to Him and accept what Jesus did on the cross for us. He forgave our sins...He purchased and redeemed us (bought us back). He loves us and longs to have a relationship...
Take His Hand and take what He has purchased for you. He is waiting for you.
Pray with me...Lord Jesus Christ I thank You for taking all of my sins on Yourself at the cross. I accept You as My Savior and I ask you to come into my heart. I surrender my life to You and Your love. Amen.

WHAT IS IT ABOUT CLOTHES?
Gloria Phifer
I was watching a TV preacher this morning. and "Wham." A lot of things began flooding back.
Pastor Evans, the preacher, was telling how he had few clothes when he was growing up. Now, he can look in his closet and see suits, pants, shirts. His children tease him about being a "Clothes horse."
I have a lot of clothes. I enjoy clothes, especially when I can get a sale of 65% off. I will confess I have too many clothes. I have given a lot away but i have more to do.
I begin to cry as I told my husband about the feelings that surfaced. I didn't have many clothes. I remember wearing a vest and skirt that matched to school...a girl made fun of my clothing...she said "it was dirty." and you know what? It was. It was made of wool. I couldn't afford to clean it. I was embarrassed.
One summer, that had been very difficult, in fact thinking about it, at that time I just felt numb. So much had happened to me. A member of my family cut up my clothes.
After I was married, I moved to my husbands home town. His grandmother asked me to go to church with her. My mother in law told me I didn't have good enough clothes to go to church.
Today, a lot of memories I thought were dealt with, surfaced again.
I felt no condemnation from the Lord about the clothes I have. I had the realization that he understands me better than I know myself.
Where I had so much loss in childhood and teen years...He has been so good to me.
Do the clothes matter? No, they don't. They were a symptom of trying to get over the feeling of "not enough." Or the rejection and hurt I felt.
The Lord gave me more understanding of "Gloria." He cared what happened to me...when I was humiliated, rejected, not cared for, not taken care of. He cared.
I thank Him for giving me understanding and letting me rethink "clothes and other things" I want to hang on to.
I felt like He said, "I will never give you loss."
My Heavenly Father has clothed me with His righteousness. The most wonderful clothing there is. He sees me as clean, accepted and wanted. I am sure that when I went through hard times, He wept with me. I feel like He has made up 100% of what I ever lost.
He cares and understands me better than I understand myself.
Oh the wonderful grace and love of our Father God, Jesus Christ and The Holy Spirit Who are at work in my life...Thank You Lord.

THE BOARD OF LIFE
Gloria Phifer
The name of the game is “The Board of Life.” The object of
the game is to place the participants of the board, onto their proper
positions. When all are put in order, the game is won and the participants are
winners.
(And we as the audience either cheer or boo).
The proper placement of the board is as follows:
The head square at the top of the board is the “Key
position.”
The object is to move the king into his proper place on the
head square.
Directly, below the key position, is the “queen’s position.”
Her position supports and undergirds the head position, and she voluntarily
summits to the king, who is set over her.
The remaining squares, are filled by the “follower
positions.”
When the king and queen are in order, the followers are free
to move from one square to another.
Examples of the remaining squares on the board are as
follows:
a.
The
space of creativity.
b.
The
space of promise and potential
c.
The
space of growth and maturity
d.
The
space of productivity
e.
The
space of obedience.
These positions are played in more or less movement, dependent
upon the king and queens positions.
If the top positions are moved out of order, the whole board
is out of balance. The followers topple about without a firm footing on The
Board of Life.
One of the important rules of the game is, no participant can
be moved from their positions without their voluntary will.
Now that the rules are given let’s play the game!
(Yay …yay)
At opposite sides of the board are the two players. They are
sworn enemies, who have a history of opposing each other.
At one side of the board is the Usurper. (Boo-boo) He sports
a new set of gleaming horns for the occasion. His black mustache and beard
match his coarse eyebrows. His piercing, darting eyes, are at this moment calculating
his first move.
The Director, is The Maker of the Board of Life. He is the all-time
Champion of the game. He is confident and poised, as He tenderly sets the
participants on the board.
In the “key position”, The Director places the king. The king
is dressed splendidly in his royal attire. He wears, his Director-given, crown
of authority. His resemblance to The Director is obvious, for he was sculpted
in his Makers image.
The queen is set in her position. Beautiful in attire, she is
gentle and graceful. She wears a delicate crown atop her flowing curls. She is
robed in purple and gold, denoting her royalty.
She also reflects the image of her Maker. Inside her bosom is
a sweet and gentle jewel called, “spirit.”
The followers are placed on the board. They are small images
of their king and queen. Dressed in knee knockers, they move freely and
securely about the board; confident of their king and queens positions.
The Usurper takes the advantage and makes the first move. He
approaches the king and whispers, “I know a square on this board where you
would be happier. You would still be king, but you could be aloof. You could
watch the board from a safe distance. The square I put you on would give you
more freedom. You would not have to bear the responsibility for any judgements
or decisions.
The king, after some consideration, heeds the lying voice and
moves onto a square in the corner of the board.
(Boo boo)
The Usurpers black mustache curls at each end of his
insidious grin. His first objective has found success. The “key position” is
open.
His next strategy is to approach the queen. If he can convince the queen
to move up into the “key position”; the two top positions will be out of order;
and the whole board will be unbalanced, resulting in chaos.
(We are holding our breath.)
“Queenie, the “key position” is open. You could run this
board. You could do better than that old king of yours. Come on Queenie, live a
little. Move up into that top square. If you don’t fill it, it will remain
vacant. No one else will take the responsibility. The board is dependent on
you!”
The Usurper giggles with glee, as the queen moves into the
key position of the board.
(We all groan).
A great shaking commences, as the board becomes unbalanced.
The followers are thrown about, losing their footing.
The Usurper steals the crown from the king’s head, and
replaces it with a dunce cap. The king sulks in the corner. Instead of finding
freedom, he has lost his authority.
The Usurper plops the king’s crown on top of the queen’s head.
Now she is burdened under a double crown. She is a funny sight as she struggles
to steady both crowns. She can never succeed in getting them straight.
She blows a curl out
of her eye, as the crowns sit cockeyed on her head. The sweet, gentle jewel in her
bosom begins to tarnish. She yells and nags the king and the followers. She
must run this board. With her will, she tries to manipulate the other positions. Her once, gentle poise, is now stooped under
her burden of two crowns. Her beautiful face shows anger, because her efforts
are ignored and not appreciated!!!
The whole board is in chaos. The king can see his mistake in
leaving the “key position.” He wants the crown, and head square back, but he
cannot get there. His queen has taken
his position and wears his crown. He groans. His countenance is sad, and his self-image
suffers. He is still a king, but a king without a crown or “key position” on
The Board of Life.
(Aww)
The Usurper roars with laughter at the sight: the king in the
dunce cap, sulking in the corner. The haughty queen shuffling two, cockeyed
crowns, and the followers toppling from one square to another.
“This is just too perfect for words. Your Board of Life is a
laughing stock!” he gloats to the Director. “I’m winning this game!” he shouts
with glee.
(Boo boo)
But wait!!! Do not despair. It is the Director’s turn to
play.
The first move is strategic. He must convince the queen to
move from the king’s position back to her own square. No other move can be made
before that. She is in the “key position.”
Gently, but firmly, The Director begins to persuade her to
move into her rightful position.
But, with the change, she knows she must give up the “key
position”, and she’s not sure she wants to relinquish the control she thinks
she has.
She firmly plants her feet and places her hands on her
hips…one of the crowns slides farther down. She scoots it back up. “I can play
this game from this “key position!” she spouts at the Director.
The Usurper roars with laughter, as the queen opposes the move.
(Boo boo)
“What’s the matter Director, having trouble with your little
Queenie?” he doubles over with evil laughter.
Ignoring the Usurper, the Director continues to work with the
queen. He reveals to her the chaos of the board. Her king is sulking in the
corner, wearing a dunce cap. Her followers are toppling about, with no
direction to follow. She herself, is at the top of the board, with no king over
her. How can she be a queen without a king?
Lastly, with great tenderness, He
reveals the heavy weight she bears and how foolish she looks wearing two
cockeyed crowns.
The Usurper’s laughter catches in his throat. The queen
agrees to move, but she is not sure of her right position on the board. She
looks to The Director and He places her in her rightful position, directly
below the “key position.”
Standing on her square, the queen sees the “key position” is
vacant. She is tempted to return to that place of authority. She feels fearful
and insecure because there is no king over her.
“Hey king, get in your position!” She yells, with her nagging
voice. “Get over here and take your responsibility!” she demands.
The more she yells, the stubborner the king becomes. He
sticks his fingers in his ears and turns his back to the board. “Who wants that
old “Key position “anyway? There was too much responsibility at the top of the
board. Besides, I’ve gotten use to being a dunce. That old queen isn’t going to
intimidate me! She’s not going to tell me what to do! Crown or no crown,
position or no position…I’m the king! He stomps his foot in protest! (Oh oh)
The Usurper is rolling on the floor in hysterics, clutching
his sides in delight.
(Boo boo)
“How’s your Board of Life working out Director?” He mocks and
roars. “Got your participants into position yet? Hee Hee, Ha Ha…”he laughs evilly.
The Director pays him no mind. He begins to deal with the
queen.
“Let’s take that second crown off and give it to the king.” The Director
suggests. “You are so weighted down and you look so lovely in your own delicate
crown.”
The queen voluntarily removes the king’s crown, hands it to
the Director, Who helps her balance her own crown.
(Yay yay)
“Isn’t that much better?” The Director asks in admiration.
The queen smiles in agreement. “It is a relief. That second crown was such a
burden.” She admits.
The Usurper is up from the floor, with fear written on his
evil face. He is losing the game!!!
(Yay yay)
The Director approaches the king. “Your queen has given you
back your crown. Will you accept it and take off the dunce cap?”
After much persuasion, the king removes the cap and the
Director replaces his crown…his authority. At first the crown feels strange,
but soon the king stands with dignity. This is his Director-given crown, that
he is destined to wear. He holds his head high and looks across the board at
his queen.
She is lovely in her position. She is a sight to behold, in
her royal purple and gold garments. The jewel in her bosom, is beginning to
shine again, in sweetness and gentleness.
(Aww)
The Usurper is tense. The board is beginning to change right
before his eyes.
The “key position” is still vacant, if he can get the queen
to return to it, the board will remain in chaos.
“Hey Queenie, get back in that “key position.” You can
control this board. How do you know your king will know what to do if he gets
back on the square? Can you trust him to run the board the way you think it should
be run? Don’t take the chance Queenie! Move!” The Usurper yells beside the
board.
The queen ignores the racket of the Usurper and looks to The
Director.
“Please place the king in his position on The Board of Life.
Set the king over me.”
No! No! No! Screams the Usurper and he falls backward in his
chair.
The Director begins to nudge the king with gentle prodding’s
and strategic moves. The queen never takes her eyes off The Director. She knows
He is The One in control! The whole board is dependent on His
workings.
The king voluntarily follows the directions of The Director
and slowly moves from the corner square.
The queen stands firm, though the Usurper is trying
desperately to gain her attention.
Closer and closer the king moves until he is positioned at
the top of the board and placed in the “key position”, as the king of the Board
of Life.
The board stills from its quaking and is balanced. The king
and queen and followers break into shouts of victory!
The game has been won!
(Hallelujah)
The board is in perfect
order, just as The Director has always meant for it to be!
The Usurper scowls, for he has lost another game!
The Director smiles confidently “You forget Usurper, I’m The
Maker of The Board of Life and I know how to win this game!!!
(Clap, clap, clap…Hallelujah.)
The Usurper slinks away into the shadows…the victory of the
Director is too much for him.

TRUE IDENTITY
Gloria Phifer
Last week, when I was reading a book on "identity," I had a wonderful experience with The Lord.
The identity had to do with "fathers" and it has not been a pleasant subject or thought of mine...sometimes it was too painful and I didn't want to go there. ( I will say that The Lord has been bringing me back to this for years.)
That morning, I was remembering, when I was young, how people would tell me I looked like my "daddy". I thought he was my real biological father. we both had dark hair and hazel eyes. When I was ten my mother told me he wasn't my real dad.
My biological father lived in California. they had divorced when I was three. My mother told me I looked like him. And that he didn't care anything about me or he wouldn't have given up custody of me.
Yes, at 10 years old, you can have an identity crises. I couldn't look like the man I had called "daddy" because he wasn't my real dad. (also a few months later, still as a ten year old, trying to understand everything, the man I had called "Daddy", died.)
But, I looked like a man I could not remember seeing? and my mother told me I had his characteristics also? And that I reminded her of him?
As I was thinking about this...last week...The Lord said very plainly in my heart..."You look like your Papa God!!!"
It was so real...so profound. It kept coming as if it was sinking deeply into me...I look like my Papa God. Tears came into my eyes and I began wiping them away.
It is hard to explain what it is like when God makes something so real to your heart. As if the scales are falling off your eyes and your heart. A revelation, that you know is true. It is really miraculous...I don't know how else to explain it. It is if He reaches down, pulls back a curtain, speaks and you know it is The Truth.
I know...I look like my Father God...my Papa God....I am His child. I have His characteristics. He wanted me. He planned my birth. He had a plan for my life. I belong to Him...He is my Papa God.
I can't began to tell you what an impact that truth has made in me. I am no longer that little girl who didn't know who she was or where she belonged, or even if she was wanted?
I have a Papa God...and I look like Him!!!
What a profound truth!!! He created me. He planned me. He saved me. He lives inside me, through His Holy spirit. I am a new creation in Christ Jesus. Wow!!! I look like my Papa God!!! That is my identity. That is my eternity...with Him.

I LOOK TO HIM
I
look to God, my Creator, in every circumstance of life. When I need a Father’s protecting arms, I
look to Him. He lifts me up and holds me
tight, reassuring me of His love. He
will make everything work out right.
When
I need a friend, I look to Him. He
always gives me a listening ear. There
is nothing I cannot tell Him.
When I’ve poured out my heart, He speaks with understanding. He comforts my soul.
When
I have decisions to make or problems seem overwhelming, I look to Him.
He is my Counselor. He speaks with wisdom and insight into
everything. My mountains shrink before
Him and I am secure.
When
I need rest…I look to Him. He quiets my
soul. He holds me tenderly and rocks my
cares away. Peace invades my spirit and I am at rest.
I
look to Him for the loving discipline every child needs. He knows I have a
tender conscience. He never crushes my
spirit. With love He instructs me. When I fall, He never gives up on me or
scolds me. He reestablishes His instructions to me.
Reassuring me of His love, He sends
me out to try again.
In
every need of life, I come to Him. He
has become everything I need. He is the
abundance. He is the provision. He is my all in all! He makes my heart to feel, my eyes to see, my
ears to hear, my mouth to speak His Word.
He is my Lord, everything to me!
I
LOOK TO HIM!!!

COME AWAY TO GOD
Gloria Phifer
Come into the quiet place
Come into the Secret Place
.
Lay upon the water…Come away to God.
The oceans roar and wave
…
You are steady in My Hands
Come away Beloved…come into The
Secret
Place…
Place your hope and trust in God.
Quiet in the moment
Though noise abounds…waves lap and
roar….
Within your heart I abide.
A rest secure.
Come into My Secret Place
Lay upon the Spirit, come away to
God.
In the noise of mankind…
The search to fill the empty place…
Thirsting...thirsting…always parched…
Hungering…hungering…to fill their
emptiness...
The sea of humanity…come away to God.
Come to The Living Water…the joy of
The Holy
Spirit instead of wine
…
See their loneliness…their emptiness
Their pain…their sorrow…
Their desperation to fill their
thirst and their
hunger…
Oh sea of humanity…find your rest in
God.
Come away to God.
Matthew 11:28 Jesus said “Come unto
Me, all you
who labor and are heavy laden. Take My yoke
upon you and learn of
Me, for I AM meek and
lowly in heart and you shall find rest for your
souls.
For My yoke is easy and My burden is
light."

sad, as it seemed there were some who were trying
so hard to find something to satisfy...but they still
seemed unsatisfied... I know in my own life...Only
Christ can fill that emptiness...that God shaped vacuum in each of our hearts...that's why He calls for us...To Come To Him.

TIME PASSES BY
Gloria Phifer
I am joining the bloggers at FMF today...we write for five minutes..the word is "Pass."
Time seems to be going faster. The last year has passed so quickly.
Where has time gone? It seems only yesterday that I was a mother of three small children.
I was a grandmother of seven grandchildren...now all but one are in their 20's.
(When did this gray hair began popping out?)
Have my husband and I really been married for 53 years in November?
I have friends who have gone to be with The Lord. I feel like I could just pick up the phone and call them. (I know they are having a great time in heaven along with my mother, step dad, aunt and grandma.)
Everyone seems younger ( my husband and I are always commenting on this.
Where has time passed? Through wonderful years. Of knowing and serving The Lord. Seeing our children grow up and having our grandchildren (which is absolutely wonderful). A marriage that has changed us both into who God wanted us to be. A deeper kind of love. Overlooking and letting things pass.
Oh and now we are Great Grandparents ...the wonders of days that come and pass. The wonders of the life God has given us...Thank You Lord.

MY TOUGH GRANDMA
Gloria Phifer
I have been thinking about my grandmother tonight.
wondering how she survived the life she lived. What made her so brave? And yet, tough with so much hardness.
She was only 4 ft 11 inches tall. She had long, chestnut hair that she braided and circled upon her head. She always wore glasses...and usually had a cigarette in her hand.
She was originally from Ohio. She married a Kentuckian and they moved west. They had 8 children. During the depression, my grandfather painted billboard signs for a living. They were always on the move. My mother told me of grandma making pancakes over a campfire.
My grandfather was an alcoholic and a womanizer.
He left grandma for another woman, but grandma would never give him a divorce because she didn't believe in it.
During the 2nd World War my grandmother, and the children who were still with her, lived on a ranch in Magdalena New Mexico, with her oldest daughter and her husband.
My mother married to get away from home when she was 16. my biological father was in the army air force, so she returned to the ranch.
my mother discovered (at 17), that she was expecting a child. My grandmother and oldest aunt wanted her to abort the baby.( my mothers sister, who was 16 months older then my mother, had gone through this procedure and then went into a deep depression. my mother had witnessed the whole thing.) Perhaps this is what saved my life...I only know that God had a plan for my life. I was born to a 18 year old girl and brought to the ranch. Another aunt told me that she didn't think I would have made it if it had not been for her and my grandmother, who took over taking care of me.
After her children left Grandma opened her own business in Albuquerque. "Ruby's Novelties." The first business was across from the New Mexico State Fairgrounds on Central Ave. She lived alone and always had her gun.
Her store was in the front of the building and her living quarters were in the back. Later on she moved her store into the Sandia Mountains.
Grandma was small, but she was intimidating. If you displeased her, she would tell you to leave and never come back. This happened to me twice. I stayed calm and didn't answer back...and then it was over with..and we went on as if nothing had happened.
My mother inherited the hardness from her mother. the only person I saw, that ever made my mother cry, was her mother. Even when my mom cried...grandma was dried eyed and I never heard her apologize.
When I was a senior in High School, my mothers brother, grandma's son, committed suicide. He was an alcoholic. He was the youngest brother. This family was always in chaos. alcohol, divorce, fights.
In this family of origin there was no peace...only hardness...trying to survive.
I married and moved to Iowa. When I was 22 years old I became a born again Christian...filled with The Holy Spirit.
I was so excited to share my new faith with my family. We visited New Mexico. When I tried to show my mother something in the Bible she said, "Get away from me with that." Grandma said, "What have you gotten your self into."
Yes, I had broken the mold. I stepped out of their comfort zone. I was a different person...it was like I was a foreigner to them.
After I returned to Iowa, my grandmother sent me a book against what I had experienced. (In fact, the trip to New Mexico was the last time I saw my grandmother.) I never responded to the book, because I knew what I had received from The Lord was real...it had changed my life.
About 4 years later my mother, brother and step dad moved to Iowa. It was spiritual battle time. I won't go into all the details, but eventually, my mother, brother and step dad did accept Christ. (Even though later, (another story,) they went back to their old life style in New Mexico. But, praise The Lord He delivered them again. Truly a miracle.)
My mother told me that, before my grandmother died, she began reading her Bible and really changed. I truly believe that I will see her in Heaven. The hardness and survival skills will be gone and I will know her as she truly is.
My mother and step dad are in Heaven now.
I use to ask the Lord why he let me be born into such chaos and upheaval...but I know He had a purpose. I have seen Him save, deliver and free the captives. Those who lived in darkness The Light came and brought salvation and new lives. I am so thankful to know Jesus Christ.
If you are praying for your family..continue...God is at work.He loves them even more then you do. Know that He can reach the hardest hearts and reveal Himself as The Only Savior of mankind.

UNITE WITH GOD
Gloria Phifer
I am joining the FMF bloggers this week...the word is "Unite."
I don't remember a political season like we have been having in our country. I see no kindness...only insults...no unity.
My greatest desire is that our country would be unified with God. To be in unity with Him. Knowing that He is God. He is God of the United States of America.
I know this can only be the work of The Lord. I am asking Him for an awakening in our country. I am asking for mercy and a cleansing.
I want Jesus Christ to be honored and feared and reverenced.
One nation under God!!!
There is an old spiritual...the words are "Where can I go but to The Lord." Such true words. He is where we need to go.
That is the unity that I pray for.

LOST AND FOUND
Gloria Phifer
I am joining the Five Minute bloggers...the word is "Find."
His name was "Smokey Joe." He was completely gray. A lovable cat.
We had just taken him to the vet, in Prairie City, for a check up. He was fine. We stopped at my husbands brother's home in Monroe.
Because Smokey had been shut up for so long...I thought I would let him out for a few minutes and then put him back in the car. He was such a docile cat. He had always stayed with me.
As I let go of him...he ran to the bushes...I was calling to him and following him. I tried to get a hold on him, but wasn't able to grab him. I was panicked, as he ran into a corn field, behind my brother in laws house.
My husband and I immediately headed into the corn, calling for him. My husband saw him once...but Smokey ran away. We searched and called...but he would not come. We stayed until evening, looking for him. (We live about 40 minutes away.)
We returned the next day, and continued yelling his name and searching. Then, we got in the car, and knocked on the doors of farm houses...hoping someone had seen him.
10 days went by. We kept returning to Monroe...but nothing. (Also Smokey was declawed). One day, when we were home, there was a strong thunder storm. I wondered where he was...did he find shelter?
I kept praying.
Our youngest son, Ted, said to me "Smokey is on his way back."
I was reading the Bible and The Lord gave me the scripture about the lost sheep. When the sheep was found, The Shepherd put him on his shoulder. and showed everyone. What was lost had been found.
There was an "Old Settlers" celebration in Monroe that weekend.
My husband and I went out to his brothers house. I began calling Smokey. I asked my husband, "Do you think he can hear me?" He replied, "The whole neighborhood can hear you."
"Meow" came from the distance. I continued calling and the "Meow's" came closer and closer. Finally, I could make out a shadow in a bush. I climbed into the bush and pulled out....yes,...my gray, wonderful cat...Smokey Joe!!! Thank You God!!!
I held him up to my shoulder all the way home. He purred and purred. In fact he purred all night. For a day or two, when he would try to go to sleep he would jerk awake. Poor baby he had been traumatized. But soon, he was his old, lovable self.
I will always be thankful to The Lord for hearing, answering and caring. He brought me back my Smokey.
Smokey Joe lived to be 19 years old.
If you have lost anything...God cares. Pray and ask Him to help you find it. He is faithful.

WHEN ANOTHER LAYER OF THE ONION PEALS OFF
![]() |
| ON A SEARCH |
Acceptance or nonacceptance has been a struggle all my life. My mother gave birth to me at 18 years old. I wasn't wanted.
My real dad gave up custody of me and moved to California. I never saw him again. He died at 41 of a massive heart-attack.
I had always daydreamed of finding him.
I had 2 Aunts who I knew loved and accepted me always...Aunt April and Aunt Ruby. I could see that acceptance in their eyes and loved their hugs.
As a teenager, in my presence, my mom told my grandmother "Gloria has ruined my life."
Almost every year I dealt with "acceptance and trying to belong."
We were usually on the move. I changed schools 14 times. Each time, I had to make my way....searching for acceptance.
I also have realized, through the book, "Five Love Languages," that the way I feel love, is by affirmation. Words mean a great deal to me. They hit my heart. Either giving me encouragement or on occasion hurt. I try to be careful with my words. I know the power they have of tearing down or lifting up. "Life and death are in the power of the tongue."
At 22 years old I gave my life to Jesus Christ and was filled with
The Holy Spirit. This began a journey of "acceptance and learning about real love." I had accepted Him, but really, He had accepted me and made me His child.
I still remember the deep revelation, He gave me. He had planned me from the beginning (Ps. 139.) I was a "wanted child". He planned my birth. He wanted me to know Him, to love Him and serve Him.
Eph1:11 "Moreover, because of what Christ has done, we have become gifts to God that He delights in. For as part of a sovereign plan we were chosen from the beginning to be his, and all things happened just as He decided long ago"
A gift to God!!! Chosen in the beginning to be His!!!
KJV. "You are accepted in The Beloved!!! Accepted!!! Wanted!!! Chosen!!!
You are probably wondering.."What does this have to do with pealing an onion?
The reason I am writing this now, is because another layer is coming off. I have received a lot of healing and then I think..."okay, we're done with that now." But once again I am dealing with "acceptance." I don't want to...but there it is.
Time passes and I realize The Lord is revealing another layer. You see, I am a work in progress. It's like an onion...peal off a layer and you think it's done and ...then...you discover there is another layer.
Honestly, the onion stinks. It makes my eyes tear up. I really would like to ignore it....but I know it's bringing me into more wholeness. Like a refining fire. When the heat is on the gold the dross surfices to the top and the Gold Smith skims off the dross. This process continues until The Gold Smith can see His reflection in the gold.
Some years back, our son Timothy, moved to California. He took me to San Diego. We found my dad's grave. We knew his address but as we drove in circles Tim said, because of the freeway, his residence was gone.
Another time, when my husband and I were in Phoenix, we visited my dad's nephew. I was hoping to find out more about my dad. But, my dad was a mystery man, my cousin knew little of him.
My mother had told me about him when I was 10. She had said he didn't care about me. But he was on my mind. I wanted to find something good about him. He was my dad.
We returned to our hotel room and I went to the pool. It was 10 at night. I was the only one there. I was sad and disappointed. I had
searched for a dad who had never been in my life. Had I meant anything to him? Had he ever thought about me?
"Identity". The word keep coming to my mind. Then I heard The Lord speak to my heart..."Your identity is in ME." I hadn't realized, until that moment, that I was searching for my own identity in a father I never knew.
There, at the pool, on a warm Phoenix night,
the Lord talked to me. (in my heart) He is my Father...He actually became a mother to me also...nurturing me. He wanted me. He chose me. He accepted me. His acceptance and love is unconditional. I will always be His. I am accepted In The Beloved. I am His child.
I am Christs and He is mine.
Lord, engrave this on my heart. Put this deep in my spirit in Jesus Name Amen
Lord, help me to trust you as you take the layers off...make me completely whole in Jesus Name Amen
